Bls I find are quite realistic to the gay experience as a trans gay dude myself

1. Love in the Big City
Korean Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
Love's difficult, there's both ups and downs. Sometimes it's the others falt, sometimes it's yours. Love is even harder for a gay guy as it comes with much stigma and hate. I find this an accurate display of hardships gays face. I was quite satisfied with the ending, even though bitter sweet, that's, to be honest, how most relationships are. Some may never find their other side, and that's ok. I really love how there were multiple love interests. If I'm being honest, it's super rare to find your one true love in one shot, especially in high-school or something. That's why I find this so refreshing. Also the mention of HIV and the stigma behind it was also nice.
Overall this is by far, the most realistic bl I've watched
10/10

2. I Feel You Linger in the Air: Uncut Version
Thai Drama - 2023, 12 episodes
Ok, so if you take out all the paranormal and reincarnation stuff, I'd say it's quite an accurate history bl drama. As I am not thai, I don't know exactly how things were in those times, but in general, I'd say it's accurate. Most people saw it as abnormal and you would get punished for it. I loved the fact that there was basically a secret gay bar there, because this for a fact, I know used to happen. People always wanted spaces where they can be themselves, and they always created it, no matter the era. This isn't a 10/10 depiction of how being gay is like, but it's a damn good one.
(Ps. The gay bar comment isn't really a spoiler, it has no real impact to the story, only adds atmosphere)

3. ThamePo Heart That Skips a Beat
Thai Drama - 2024, 13 episodes
Oh my god. This is one of the best shows that GMM25 has made in a WHIIIIILE.
The whole "idol dating" trope has been used quite often, but this was done so well. The whole scandal side and overreactions of fans. At some points it was a tad boring, but that didn't ruin it for me (well duh. I gave it 10 stars). At times it seemed quite realistic, like instead of fiction it was retelling a story or something. But that's understandable when the group "mars" is actually an irl idol group (LYKN). I also enjoyed the lessons that were taught here, you can apply many things that were said here into real life.
The relationship was fluff, which I feel like actually added onto the story. Sometimes spicy scenes happen so often it gets annoying, but this show only had implied scenes. I also like that not everyone was gay here. I find it funny when I watch a show and literally EVERYONE is gay. Like that basically doesn't happen, so I'm glad theres straight rep here too.
Over all, quite realistic and surprisingly informative

4. I Told Sunset about You
Thai Drama - 2020, 5 episodes
Short but sweet. I think it accurately depicts the fear of people finding out your sexuality. The thoughts of "what if I were a woman? Could you love me then?" I don't wanna spoil it, but I think it really does depict the hardships of finding out your sexuality well

5. Our Youth
Japanese Drama - 2024, 10 episodes
I ABSOLUTELY loved this. It showed how hard life can be not just from a sexuality aspect, but also just life in general. I think the ending was quite fitting even though some people may not like it. Being scared that people would find out your sexuality, but still wanting people to know is just so relatable, at least to me

6. Sotus
Thai Drama - 2016, 15 episodes
I loved this series. It was just the right pacing, you could see how the feelings started developing and at the end it makes you all giddy inside seeing them happy. Since this is an older series, it's a "soft love" type series, but that makes it all that better

7. Theory of Love
Thai Drama - 2019, 12 episodes
In my opinion, this was quite realistic in the way people grow to understand love. Some people find the untrustfulnes of third to be annoying, but when you get heartbroken I think most people wouldn't instantly trust the person again to not break your heart.
The only reason it's not a 10 is because some scenes feel a bit dragging and monotone

8. Like in the Movies
Filipino Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
There's not much to talk about this one. It was realistic and that's all. The only reason it's not 10/10 is because some scenes were simply too long for me. Some wouldn't find them too long, but I just found some scenes so long that they basically last half the episode with no actual plot or anything.
I liked the acting though. It was very realistic and felt like I was watching an actual couple

9. The Time of Fever
Korean Drama - 2024, 6 episodes
I love how conflicting the emotions are here. One person wants to love and be loved, no matter the gender and the other is scared, he wants to be loved too, but he thinks this is a phase and will pass. I like the fact that the ending is open, so you can interpret what will happen next.

10. Secrets Happened on the Litchi Island
Chinese Drama - 2025, 7 episodes
I found it very sweet and endearing. It captured the whole stigma and hardships that being gay comes with, very accurate slice of life. The only reason it's just 9 is because at some points it's a bit boring

11. Gelboys
Thai Drama - 2025, 7 episodes
I'll get straight to the point, the ending was waaaaay too rushed. But it was realistic, it was just teens trying to understand their emotions and how to handle them, basically just then grasping the fact that if you do something wrong it'll hurt the other person
