Why it worked for me:
- Plot allowed the FL to have trauma that wasn't belittled or alleviated by the appearance of love
- The interaction between the leads had a friendly, bantering quality.
- FL was allowed to have hormones
- While the ML had his swoony moments, he was believably flawed and immature at moments
