Tubi/Prime Favorites for US Watchers

Check out my ‘ US Required Reading List ’ for what I think are must-watches on western platforms. Other than those, I put together streaming platform-specific lists like this one for this specific streaming platform. Otherwise, my Netflix lists are the default for the US; if it’s on a Netflix list I didn’t repeat it here. These are just western platform available shows and just my personal taste. Some of the best dramas are on Asian platforms like Viki, IQIYI, etc… and check out a free trial on those if you get into drama watching   Here are some of my personal viewing tips: Subs, not dubs. If you can, watch in the original language. The inflection and beauty of the language is a huge part of the drama experience. Subtitles are reading, so technically you’re reading, not just watching TV! 3 strikes. Try to give a drama at least 3 episodes (sometimes even 5) before dropping it—especially when you’re new to drama. Unlike western TV, dramas take their time unfolding plotlines and developing characters. Give them a little time—they often reward your patience. Eventually, you’ll get a feel for what you like and can drop earlier. Join the conversation. Make a free MDL (kisskh) account to track your dramas. Use the notes feature to remember what you liked or didn’t. It’s like Goodreads for drama! The comment/review sections are great for asking questions (just tag spoilers), and there’s lots of fun discussion on Twitter, Threads, Reddit, Bluesky, etc. It’s a warm and welcoming community. Couch Travel. Watch with an open mind. Eastern culture is different from western, and each country has a beautiful, complex history and culture. If something feels “off,” try approaching it with curiosity and respect instead of judgment. Hwaiting!
