WILL WATCH AGAIN/KOREAN
My standards for re-watch value are as follows:
- Writing must be intelligent, believable and fluid.
- Few or no cliches.
- Humour that is witty and unforced.
- Main characters that are strong within themselves or journey to become that way.
- Bonus points for casting that is done based on skill rather than looks.
- Bonus points for a plot that is fresh and creative.
- Bonus points for forcing me to learn something about the world I live in.
There will be exceptions to some of these rules for a multitude of reasons. I will try to remember to express 'why' in the comments.

101. Let Me Be Your Knight
Korean Drama - 2021, 12 episodes
This series was quite enjoyable. It's a nice, intelligently written mush of genres without being ridiculously light or ominously dark. Well done casting, you picked a superb cast, all of which are fresh faces to me (probably not to anyone else), who did their job so well that I forgot they were working. I will definitely watch this again in the future.
-
102. Sungkyunkwan Scandal
Korean Drama - 2010, 20 episodes
This was a joy to watch.
Intelligent, funny, enough drama to keep it under that heading, a thread of romance that was quietly unobtrusive, and an exceptional cast.
What makes it more remarkable is that its 24 years old. It is obvious that everyone involved in the production worked hard to maintain it's dignity with writing that incorporated the 'mandatory' cliches in a way that made them not feel like daggers in your eyes and ears...
...except for the one below...
I do think the whole scenario with the adult child that was pursuing the ML could have been cut from the script, I've thought of at least three different routes they could have taken that would allowed them to accomplish the same outcome as was here...all with intelligent writing for intelligent adults. Whiny ass toddlers in grown ass bodies are a blight on any production.
I will definitely watch this again some time. -
103. One Dollar Lawyer
Korean Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
-
104. Gyeongseong Creature
Korean Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
This is set in what would become Seoul, during the Japanese occupation.
Very uncomfortable to watch; while obviously not historically correct with regard to the creature, it is accurate in its presentation of the oppression, violence and torture that so many suffered while their countries were occupied by a fascist regime.
The acting is brilliant. The writing is better than much of what is out today.
-
105. Gyeongseong Creature Season 2
Korean Drama - 2024, 7 episodes
This is set in the present day Seoul.
Very uncomfortable to watch; while obviously not historically correct with regard to the creature, it is accurate in its presentation of the oppression, violence and torture that so many suffered while their countries were occupied by a fascist regime.
The acting is brilliant. The writing is better than much of what is out today.
I wouldn't mind seeing another season of this, I can think of many avenues they could pursue that would support strong plots.
-
106. Parasyte: The Grey
Korean Drama - 2024, 6 episodes
One season with only six episodes is NOT enough. WHY?????
It was well acted, almost completely written intelligently, but still had the cliche a holes.
This is my second time through, and I'll likely watch it again next year.
-
107. What Comes after Love
Korean Drama - 2024, 6 episodes
This was sad and sweet and intelligent and, and, and...
I'm enjoying the acting of this new younging (new to me) Kentaro Sakaguchi, he's quite good at his craft.
I will watch this again sometime. Will there be a second season? It doesn't need one, but I feel that the story could definitely support another six episodes. -
108. Kairos
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
One of the better productions I've had the good fortune to stumble across.
Acting was brilliant, story line isn't new however it was presented in a way that kept me hooked. There are parts that I just skipped through, usually that is because I'm bored and have no patience for filler crap, in this instance it was because I was impatient for 'what happens next'. Well, more that I wanted to confirm my guesses.
I will definitely watch this again sometime. -
109. You're So Precious to Me
Korean Movie - 2021
Well, it was too short, as movies are. Was it perfect, no...but it was still well worth the wee bit of time invested in it. I watched it when it first came out, forgot about it, so this is my 1st rewatch.
Kudos for miles for the young actress, she was brilliant. Not reacting to stimulus that would have the rest of us constantly twitching about...respect.
I'll forget about this little gem again, and watch it again, rinse and repeat forever. -
110. River Where the Moon Rises
Korean Drama - 2021, 20 episodes
The support and positivity in this group is astounding. I'm not sure I've seen this level of kind, constructive, productive and informative communication in any other gathering of like-minded or like-experiencing people.
-
111. Page Turner
Korean Special - 2016, 3 episodes
This wee series was a pleasant surprise.
Kudos to casting and acting...
Psycho helicopter mom annoyed the piss out of me so I was happy when she disappeared for a while. It was a nice change that the writers brought her back a little more human and spared us the endless scenes of everyone forgiving her for being a total biatch. -
112. A Way Station
Korean Movie - 2021
This story was quietly beautifully and heart wrenching.
-
113. Hot Stove League
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
Perfect. More like this please.
The characters are written with their humanity intact and the story never ventures near the line between real and ridiculous. Bravo.
The cast was stellar. I am curious as to why they cast so many players with actors that were noticeably older than the character they were playing, though. I still wouldn't change any of them out, I'm just curious.
What made it even more fabulous is that there is no love story mucking it up. YAY!
I'll watch this again in a few years. -
114. Dare to Love Me
Korean Drama - 2024, 16 episodes
I'm really surprised at the rating for this show, specially considering how it's usually me that rates negatively when everyone else loves a show...but here I am defending this one.
This is a full on dramedy that did it's job well, I laughed, cringed and cried my way through it. It had it's over the top slap stick crap, but oddly, it didn't interfere with the flow of the series.
I've seen a lot of comments on the age difference between the leads, really people? So many productions out there where the ML is almost geriatric and the lead is in their 20's and no one says a word. Neither of the leads are children and neither was coerced into their relationship, if anything it was the opposite. The ML character did everything he could to maintain the teacher/student relationship out of respect for the FL character and the FL character did everything she could to build a friendship with her student. She did not pursue him as a partner. They grew into their relationship over time and through the most adverse events. The mutual respect they had for each other was heartwarming.
Even the FL's younger brother, grew from a twat immature man-child to someone I could sit in a room with and not want to smack.
Acting 20/10
Casting 20/10
Writing 10/10
I'll happily watch it again in a few years. -
115. Love Revolution
Korean Drama - 2020, 30 episodes
I give this 10 for the hilarious comradery of the main cast. I think it that alone could have carried this series, the romance crap took away from it in my opinion.
Casting 10/10, well done whomever was in charge.
Acting 10/10, the ease and speed at which the wit and sarcasm flew around made it feel like the cast had grown up together. Kudos!
Writing 9/10, it didn't need the nasties or the romance to carry it and make it a hit.
I will definitely watch this again in a few years. -
116. The Red Sleeve
Korean Drama - 2021, 17 episodes
This series will rudely suck a rollercoaster of emotions from you with complete disregard for your will or want. I found myself caught off guard by the flow of it all, not because I didn't like it, but because I did.
I regularly skip episodes in a series when space is taken up by events that have no impact on the plot as a whole, this production was visibly missing this, it would jump years when needed, thank you! A lot of things are typical cliche period dramas tripe, but the producer allowed us to view them through a different lens giving unexpected perspectives.
My sincerest gratitude to everyone who worked to make this what it is.
-
117. When the Phone Rings
Korean Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
Okay, so the whiny btch mom that was 'doing it all for the sake of her daughter'...treated her kid like shit her entire life, never had a kind word, was a snob...and then cries poor me when her kid goes missing...barf...come on writers switch it up to something that isn't in every other damn drama. The other mom was a piece of work too...WOW. Also gaps in logic.
The cliche tripe and leaps in logic aside, it was decently written. Everything else was superb.
Acting 10/10
Casting 10/10
Writing 9/10 -
118. Motel California
Korean Drama - 2025, 12 episodes
10 stars for casting and acting. I want to take more than one star off for the cliche characters and events that the writer wearily felt were necessary, however, the 'feel' of most of the main characters and how they interacted was strangely endearing. I can imagine loving someone as much as the ML character did but never through the constant abuse he took at the hands of the FL...
The bullies were bullies for decades and suddenly at the end...for reasons I still don't understand...they all turn over a new leaf? -
119. Study Group
Korean Drama - 2025, 10 episodes
Well this was fun, and no one is more surprised at that than me. I was expecting, well, nothing and I got a hell of a ride instead. A hardy well done to everyone involved in this production.
Casting...whomever was responsible deserves double pay
Acting...I would love to see this lot work together on other projects. They brought their motley crew of characters together into a cohesive unit of organized chaos with such ease that it made you forget how unreasonable most of it was. BRILLIANT.
Writing...kudos. You gave us a bunch of highs schoolers and not one ridiculous 'romance' to be found. The writing was also fun and left absolutely no room for boredom. I didn't skip a second of it...said me, never.
I will watch this every few years until I die...yes, it was that fun. -
120. Top Management
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
Well, this was nice. I know there must be more, but so far this is only the second production I've see Cha Eun-Woo in that was even remotely worthy of his ability. I absolutely loathe it when producers just stick a bunch of eye candy together to carry a show instead of giving worthy actors worthy scripts.
This doesn't take any brain power to get through, it's not that kind of writing, but considering the ages of the characters, it was well done.
The only thing wrong with this is that there are way too many loose ends, it really does need a second season to fix all that...but the characters must be played by the same actors so I get that schedules are next to impossible to coordinate at this point...still, it's disappointing.
I'll watch this again something. -
121. Police University
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
I enjoyed this series. It was a little far-fetched but it was well written.
It has a great cast, some familiar faces and some I've never seen before. I admire production companies that include newbies with seasoned actors, it's a great opportunity for the cast and the viewers to watch new talent benefit from their seniors and for seniors to enjoy the chance to pass on their knowledge.
This cast felt like they were a family of friends.
I will watch this again. -
122. Love Scout
Korean Drama - 2025, 12 episodes
I enjoyed this. I've taken half a star off for the unnecessary nasties as the story could have carried itself well on it's own. Life is full of naturally occurring hardship, how come writers always resort to spiteful, vicious characters to incite it???? Lazy and lame.
Casting...brilliant, everyone was a shoe-in for their character.
Acting....also brilliant
Writing...nasties aside, brilliant. -
123. The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call
Korean Drama - 2025, 8 episodes
Spectacular! The little money grubbing muckity muck was written poorly. No hospital on the planet would have that twat in that position...even ones based on fiscal bottom lines would pick a bulldog rather than an imbecile. Everything else was ace...SPECIALLY because there was no stupid love shape (triangle, square, pentagon, heptagon...etc), no love story at all to take away from the brilliance of the story..KUDOS!
Casting-10
Acting-10
Writing-9
Production-10 -
124. Love in the Moonlight
Korean Drama - 2016, 18 episodes
I enjoyed this for the simple fact that none of the 5 leads were idiots. While we didn't get a ton of backstory for any of them, there was just enough to keep me from being annoyed.
A hardy 10 stars for casting and acting, job well done by all. I thoroughly enjoyed the FL's cheeky forwardness. That child's smile could light a stadium. I think she did a brilliant job with her character.
The writing wasn't fabulous, but it was, for the most part, written with the intelligence it deserves -
125. Watcher
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
This was pretty good. The writing was almost completely intelligent, there were a lot of twists and turns that left one wondering. I caught on to who the 'club' members were pretty early because the writers made it easy to tell...if you pay attention.
The acting was flawless and casting couldn't have done a better job. There were a pile of new faces for me, they may not be new to acting, just to me, either was, I hope to see all of them in other endeavors.
I'll watch this again in a few years. -
126. Undercover High School
Korean Drama - 2025, 12 episodes
Loved this all the way through, perfect balance of drama and intelligent humour. Even the slapsticky crap was well played because the characters themselves were intelligent.
-
127. The Art of Negotiation
Korean Drama - 2025, 12 episodes
This is a brilliant series! Anyone that reads my reviews knows that I am picky as hell and make no bones about tearing down a production for immaturity in the characters, the plots, the humour, and the writing in general. There are NONE of these negative factors in this series.
Casting: 10
Acting : 10
Writing: 10
Re-watch value: 10
Overall production: 10
Plot: 10
Gah, I hope they make a season 2. They left enough of a cliff hanger at the end to make at least one more season...I would welcome more. -
128. Dear Hongrang
Korean Drama - 2025, 11 episodes
This was well written for something that was only 11 episodes in length. There were very few moments of stagnancy or 'fluff'. The level of intelligence almost always met or surpassed my ridiculous standards. There were a few instances where I questioned the logic...for instance when the ML's character had not been outed yet, but still attempted physical contact that went WAY beyond acceptable for a brother. It is dark and heart wrenching.
-
129. Oh My Ghost Clients
Korean Drama - 2025, 10 episodes
I rarely write a review before watching an entire series...or after I've had to drop one to preserve what little patience and sanity I have left, however, I am thoroughly enjoying this series even being only two episodes in...and can't imagine it going south. 10/10 for everything across the board. It does get a bit silly at times, but the characters are written with enough depth and intelligence to allow an awesome balance. The rest of the humour is delightfully dry wit...YAY!
I'll come back after I've painfully waited for the rest of the series to air.
