This is my recommended watch order for understanding EVERYTHING modern Ultraman has to offer! ✨

I tried to find a balance between story continuity and production timelines.

  • Denkou Choujin Gridman

    1. Denkou Choujin Gridman

    Japanese Drama - 1993, 39 episodes

Hear me out--SSSS.GRIDMAN technically came out during the New Generation so....

Okay fine! You can start with the next one.

But if you do watch this, don't forget to watch the short, Boys Invent Great Hero, after too!

  • Ultraman Mebius

    2. Ultraman Mebius

    Japanese Drama - 2006, 50 episodes

I consider Mebius to be the bridge between classic Ultraman and New Generation. Mebius also shows up in Ultra Galaxy the Movie, so it's relevant in that sense to the New Generation watch order.

The High Concept era is just a strong entry point for Ultraman in general.

I also just REALLY like Ultraman Mebius, so... Yeah!

  • Ultraman Mebius Gaiden: Hikari Saga

    3. Ultraman Mebius Gaiden: Hikari Saga

    Japanese Special - 2006, 3 episodes

(From the Ultraman Wiki ) "SAGA 1 takes place before episode 1 of Mebius and leads up to GUYS' battle against Dinozole. SAGA 2 takes place between episode 17 and episode 18. SAGA 3 takes place between episode 34 and episode 35."

Optional. Not required for New Generation.

But if you do want to watch it, I personally would just watch these after the main series. It's a nice little "Oh! So that's what he was up to!" kind of thing.

  • Ultraman Mebius & Ultra Brothers

    4. Ultraman Mebius & Ultra Brothers

    Japanese Movie - 2006

  • Ultraman Mebius Gaiden: Ghost Reverse

    5. Ultraman Mebius Gaiden: Ghost Reverse

    Japanese Special - 2009, 2 episodes

Optional. Not required for New Generation.

Watch if you also just really liked Mebius.

  • Ultraman Mebius Gaiden: Armored Darkness

    6. Ultraman Mebius Gaiden: Armored Darkness

    Japanese Special - 2008, 2 episodes

    Also optional.

But if you watched everything up to now... Congrats! You now know more about Mebius than you really need to!

  • Ultra Galaxy: Mega Monster Battle

    7. Ultra Galaxy: Mega Monster Battle

    Japanese Drama - 2007, 13 episodes

Technically considered part of the High Concept era which is why it's right after Mebius.

    A precursor to New Generation...

  • Ultra Galaxy Mega Monster Battle: Never Ending Odyssey

    8. Ultra Galaxy Mega Monster Battle: Never Ending Odyssey

    Japanese Drama - 2008, 13 episodes

Optional if you're in a hurry.

  • Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legends

    PEEEAAAK!!!!!!!!

    NEW GENERATION STARTS NOW!!!!!!!!

  • Ultra Galaxy Legends Gaiden: Ultraman Zero Vs. Darclops Zero

    10. Ultra Galaxy Legends Gaiden: Ultraman Zero Vs. Darclops Zero

    Japanese Special - 2010, 2 episodes

  • Ultraman Zero: The Revenge of Belial

    11. Ultraman Zero: The Revenge of Belial

    Japanese Movie - 2010

  • Ultraman Zero Gaiden: Killer the Beatstar

    12. Ultraman Zero Gaiden: Killer the Beatstar

    Japanese Special - 2011, 2 episodes

  • Ultraman Saga

    13. Ultraman Saga

    Japanese Movie - 2012

Possibly optional because we honestly never see Saga again after this.

  • Ultra Zero Fight

    14. Ultra Zero Fight

    Japanese Special - 2012, 23 episodes

I've seen people online say New Generation starts here actually.

  • Ultraman Ginga

    15. Ultraman Ginga

    Japanese Drama - 2013, 11 episodes

Okay, now we are 100% in the new generation.

  • Ultraman Ginga: Theater Special

    16. Ultraman Ginga: Theater Special

    Japanese Movie - 2013

Takes place between episodes 6 and 7.

Although not included in the English Blu-ray release, you'll live even if you don't watch this.

  • Ultraman Ginga S

    17. Ultraman Ginga S

    Japanese Drama - 2014, 16 episodes

TsuPro really locked in for this season huh?

  • Ultra Fight Victory

    19. Ultra Fight Victory

    Japanese Drama - 2015, 13 episodes

  • Ultraman X

    20. Ultraman X

    Japanese Drama - 2015, 22 episodes

  • Ultraman Orb

    22. Ultraman Orb

    Japanese Drama - 2016, 25 episodes

The first New Generation Ultraman to be released on Blu-ray with English subtitles by Mill Creek Entertainment.

  • Ultraman Orb the Origin Saga

    23. Ultraman Orb the Origin Saga

    Japanese Drama - 2016, 12 episodes

    Prequel to Ultraman Orb.

I'm the kind of guy that likes watching prequels after the main series.

  • Ultra Fight Orb

    25. Ultra Fight Orb

    Japanese Drama - 2017, 8 episodes

I can't put it here, but watch Upin & Ipin X Ultraman Ribut after this.

  • Ultraman Geed

    26. Ultraman Geed

    Japanese Drama - 2017, 25 episodes

    This was my first Ultraman!

Although, I was too Rider-pilled at the time to fully appreciate it.

  • Ultraman Geed the Movie: I'll Connect the Wishes!!

I can't put it here, but watch Upin & Ipin X Ultraman Ribut II after this.

  • Ultraman R/B

    28. Ultraman R/B

    Japanese Drama - 2018, 25 episodes

  • Ultraman R/B The Movie: Select! The Crystal of Bond

If you want to be COOL side watch SSSS.GRIDMAN after this!

  • Ultra Galaxy Fight: New Generation Heroes

    30. Ultra Galaxy Fight: New Generation Heroes

    Japanese Special - 2019, 13 episodes

Released concurrently with Ultraman Taiga on TsuPro's official Ultraman YouTube channel.

Came with multi-language subtitles AND an English dub. Clearly they learned from their mistakes with Taiga...

Cemented Ultraman Ribut as part of the mainline of Ultraman.

  • Ultraman Taiga Episode 0: Ultraman Taiga Story

    31. Ultraman Taiga Episode 0: Ultraman Taiga Story

    Japanese Special - 2019, 1 episode

  • Ultraman Taiga

    32. Ultraman Taiga

    Japanese Drama - 2019, 25 episodes

First Ultraman to be released in the Reiwa Era of Japan. Although, only Kamen Rider fans think about it like that.

This was the first full Ultraman season to be released on TsuPro's YouTube channel WITHOUT English subtitles (There were subs for other languages though so everyone else was chilling).

Many English fansub groups stopped translating Taiga at the time so we could "support the official release" but that was some ULTRA BS because, like I said, there were no English subtitles.

It's been years, and I'm still salty about it.

  • Ultraman Taiga the Movie: New Generation Climax

Presented itself as a "capstone" for the New Generation. In Kamen Rider terms, think Heisei Generations Forever.

Made everyone think "Is New Generation over?"

  • Ultra Galaxy Fight: The Absolute Conspiracy

    34. Ultra Galaxy Fight: The Absolute Conspiracy

    Japanese Special - 2020, 10 episodes

Released concurrently with Ultraman Z on TsuPro's YouTube channel.

    Ribut is here to stay!

    First appearance of Ultraman Regulos.

  • Ultraman Z

    35. Ultraman Z

    Japanese Drama - 2020, 25 episodes

Presented during Ultraman Zero's 10th anniversary, and had the biggest marketing push I've seen any Ultraman get in the last couple years.

Ultraman Z aired LIVE on TsuPro's YouTube channel with multi-language subtitles and would later receive an English dub.

TsuPro has officially gone all in promoting Ultraman globally and making it accessible to as many people online as possible. Nearly everything from now on can be assumed to have released on YouTube.

The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are also evident here... But it doesn't matter! Z is still my GOAT.

  • Ultra Galaxy Fight: The Destined Crossroad

    36. Ultra Galaxy Fight: The Destined Crossroad

    Japanese Special - 2022, 10 episodes

    Released concurrently with Ultraman Trigger.

    Ultraman Regulos is here!

(And if you watched SSSS.GRIDMAN, watch SSSS.DYNAZENON after this too!)

  • Ultraman Tiga

    37. Ultraman Tiga

    Japanese Drama - 1996, 52 episodes

    Optional.

Watch the first couple episodes for fun!

  • Ultraman Trigger: New Generation Tiga

    38. Ultraman Trigger: New Generation Tiga

    Japanese Drama - 2021, 25 episodes

    Wait...

    Z didn't get a movie?

  • Ultraman Trigger: Episode Z

    39. Ultraman Trigger: Episode Z

    Japanese Movie - 2022

Oh, well I guess this also counts as Z's movie!

  • Ultraman Regulos: First Mission

    40. Ultraman Regulos: First Mission

    Japanese Special - 2022, 2 episodes

  • Ultraman Regulos

    41. Ultraman Regulos

    Japanese Special - 2023, 6 episodes

Regulos origin story.  Again, I'm the kind of guy that likes a prequel after the main story.

This along with First Mission were technically released after both Ultraman Trigger and Decker ended, but we might as well wrap up the Regulos saga now!

  • Ultraman Dyna

    42. Ultraman Dyna

    Japanese Drama - 1997, 51 episodes

    Optional.

Watch the first couple episode for fun... Again!

  • Ultraman Decker

    43. Ultraman Decker

    Japanese Drama - 2022, 25 episodes

    New Generation Dyna!

  • Ultraman Decker Finale: Journey to Beyond

    44. Ultraman Decker Finale: Journey to Beyond

    Japanese Movie - 2023

  • Ultraman

    45. Ultraman

    Japanese Drama - 1966, 39 episodes

    Hear me out.

    Watch episodes 1, 3, 9, 18, 33, and 39.

  • Shin Ultraman

    46. Shin Ultraman

    Japanese Movie - 2022

Ultra relevant to what I'm about to say next.

  • Ultraman Blazar

    47. Ultraman Blazar

    Japanese Drama - 2023, 25 episodes

Distinct tonal shift in the way TsuPro presents Ultraman's story, toys, etc. that was immediately apparent upon the release of the first trailer that came out after Shin Ultraman.

Someone or maybe even everyone at TsuPro decided Ultraman should stop being so "toy centric" to focus on more concise story telling, world building, and character development. I can't even imagine what that meeting with Bandai was like.

The main guy doesn't even scream the name of the Ultraman he's turning into anymore.

The Shin Ultraman Effect is real...

  • Ultraman Blazar the Movie: Tokyo Kaiju Showdown

I can't include it here, but watch Ultraman Rising after this.

(And you should know me by now... Watch Gridman Universe too!)

  • Ultraman Arc

    49. Ultraman Arc

    Japanese Drama - 2024, 25 episodes

Given a strong marketing push in the wake of Ultraman Rising. Like Blazar, the English dub was simulcast.

Failed to capture the hearts of Ken Sato fans but was still a really good season nonetheless.

No seriously. Ultraman Rising fans literally just moved on to KPop Demon Hunters.

  • Ultraman Omega

    51. Ultraman Omega

    Japanese Drama - 2025, 25 episodes

Cutting the core cast of characters to a minimum of three,  Ultraman Omega marks another shift in the way TsuPro wants to tell an Ultraman story.
