1. Marriage Contract
Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes
I think this did for me what Scent of a Woman was supposed to. I liked these leads (my completely shameless bias for Uee aside) a million times more than in that show. Along the same lines as that one though, I could have done with maybe 20% less of Ji Hoon's terrible family (minus his mom/uncle) since that could have been 20% more time with the leads (so many obstacles! I know it's a melo but like...get lost!). The rest of the cast was also great, with some being consistently funny as a brief but still tonally consistent break from how sad everything was (much thanks to the chef near the end when I was crying pretty much non-stop). Also, the child actress was super cute (maybe my favorite single parent plot kid yet? definitely right up there with the kids from The Love You Give Me and Autumn's Concerto). I can't really say much else about the main story since it was absolutely crushing, as good as this was I am definitely well up on stories about terminal illness for a good long while.

2. One Piece Season 2: Into the Grand Line
Japanese Drama - 2026, 8 episodes
I don't think I was able to get as invested in this as the first season but I think that's more about 2026 being so terrible, for the most part. There is like...quite a lot going on (which is fair, the source material is huge) so this season is less of a casual watch than last season, but like, everything I liked about the first season is still present, so, still good!

3. The Reason Why He Can’t Marry
Japanese Drama - 2021, 10 episodes
The two are entirely unrelated except for having Hayami Mokomichi who excels at playing odd MLs , but for me, this is a sister series to This Guy is the Biggest Mistake of My Life. Like somebody watched that and said "very good...but what if he was a weirdo and she liked him anyway (at least, at first, until later when she likes him because of the weirdo he is)?" This is a fun and cute answer to that question.

4. No Other Choice
Korean Movie - 2025
Saw this at the local indie theater! I feel like I'm not film-y enough to appreciate the visuals of it but the sound design really stood out to me. The friend I saw it with and I spent a lot of time afterwards talking about the first interviewee kill, which was great in a theater with that sound system. The cast was also great, but that was a given since it was pretty much just entirely people I've seen and liked in other things.

5. Kakegurui Twin
Japanese Drama - 2021, 8 episodes
I was a bit hesitant to watch since Mary is not really a draw for me (she's fine! my favorite character is Midari, the problem is definitely me) but I liked how they found ways to have the rest of the gang here, in addition to the new characters (my favorite of these is probably
Mary's SuzuiTsuzura). As always, everyone here is giving it a million percent. Maybe this is a betrayal of the source material but I don't care, I never plan to find out because this version is just too fun. Oh, also, the guy from A Man Who Defies the World of BL was in this one, he fit in extremely well. -
6. The Red Envelope
Thai Movie - 2025
This was actually a nice remake! I didn't think it would be extremely bad because I can't imagine getting more Billkin/PP and being upset about it, but the track record on Thai remakes is kind of garbage. I think it helps that the Taiwanese one was kind of all over the place in tone so that the various extremely Thai jokes fit in really well. The choice to make the lead not a cop was also a really good one, in that it meant we spent way less time with the cops and I think it made the lead look like less of a dumbass for not realizing there was an inside (wo)man in the ranks. This doesn't really have anything to do with anything but while I didn't care about Goi really, the actress is like an OG who has been there since ITSAY/IPYTM so like...neat to see her here!
I do think this could have spent like just a bit more time on showing the progression of things for the leads (I think this is like a double edged sword for doing a remake with an established acting couple, in that like, yes these two actors have histories but their characters don't so you still have to do the work if you're going to remake something) but like, I cried when I was supposed to cry so like...it worked but it could have worked more. The references they were able to make because these two actors have history were also pretty good even if thinking about what that would mean for this world makes my head kind of hurt. Oh also funny Shutter reference!

7. Me and Who
Thai Drama - 2025, 10 episodes
"I would like to see everyone here in something else with a little bit more going on" -- me, last year after watching Monster Next Door
It's a shame that this is the only wish of mine that was granted but I guess I will take a win where I can get it. Very nice to see BigPark again (oh, and Kade for a bit, but he was very much a satellite guy)! Oh, also very fun to see Poppy, a guy I only know from Tiktok videos, in a drama. This was an easy and fun watch. I think the pacing was a little off starting towards the middle, and...while I'm not sure this needed to be longer, I kind of would have liked just a little more information on what was happening back in MC's home dimension (also maybe I am dumb but like...why does Apo know how much better everything is in his home dimension, but Phopthorn is clueless? I don't think this was ever explained unless he just assumed that a guy with a better personality would improve things). Also, the villain resolution was so unexpected and funny. I hope this ushers in a new era of not continuing to hang out with Literally The Worst Guy You Know Who Also Tried to Kill You
because they've been unceremoniously killed off offscreen. -

9. Spaceless
Thai Movie - 2024
Okay, I have to hand it to the 4Minutes guys (I'm sorry but I am a GMMTV girl, I only have like the vaguest sense of who these guys are), I didn't think I would feel that sad about this but this was pretty sad.

10. Love Untangled
Korean Movie - 2025
This is just okay but considering how it went the last time I watched Gong Myung in a cute nostalgic high school romance thing, I can accept 'a little boring but he doesn't die in a fire in this one'. I didn't really get too invested in the hair problems (I have curly hair, I did spend years agonizing over and straightening it, I do get it) /crush on a boring guy first half, but I liked the latter half better. The ending is maybe a bit much but like, it's very cute, I am a sucker for cute things, it's fine. Oh, also what a surprise with the Gong Yoo and Jung Yu Mi cameos! I think I remember seeing they were in this but it has been so long that I forgot.

11. Alice in Borderland
Japanese Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
I think the problem that I had with this is that it's mostly set up for the kind of big death game plot antics that I prefer to be watching (unfortunately what I want out of every death game show is Future Diary, and you really can't get that these days), but for set up, this is just fine.
-
12. Alice in Borderland Season 2
Japanese Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
Still not quite enough big death game antics for me but I did really enjoy Jack/Queen of Hearts and the King of Clubs games. I was disappointed that Niragi lived and Kuina and Ann didn't get a chance to meet back up before the season ended. Oh, and the King of Diamonds was one of the F4 guys, so...neat!

13. Boys over Flowers Season 2
Japanese Drama - 2007, 11 episodes
This is probably a direct result of me having watched the 2009 Boys Over Flowers too many times, but this just felt like it took ages. I like the characters but I spent a lot of time just wishing things would hurry up and get to the next thing that I knew was going to happen. Also, I feel like this is kind of normal for Japanese dramas but the two song limit for OSTs really stuck out to me, like again in the 2009 one you hear the same songs over and over again but it's like, 10+ songs and here it's just the intro song and the sad Utada song. I did enjoy the last couple of episodes because things were happening at a good clip in those and Shigeru, who is really annoying, was mostly gone by then. Before the year is out I will watch the sequel movie and then be freed from this prison
(the exit is just a door marked Taiwanese and Thai adaptations) -
14. Perfect Marriage Revenge
Korean Drama - 2023, 12 episodes
I really liked the cast (well, minus the boring prince from The Last Empress, the only positive is that I guess this character suits him better than a character people should like), especially the leads, but while this started with a really good pace, about halfway through it just started to feel like it took forever for things to happen. The wrap up was also just kind of boring? Not sure how else to describe it, like very splashy opening and then poor follow through.

17. The Boy Next World: Uncut
Thai Drama - 2025, 10 episodes
Most important thing out of the way, I started watching this just in time to lose Forth :( I didn't really like his partner (in his defense, it's possible I just don't like anything that reminds me of Wedding Plan) but after having watched a billion of these, you do develop an appreciation for side characters who are entertaining, and Forth brought a fun weirdo quality to otherwise standard friend characters in this, Wedding Plan, and Love Sea.
Anyway about the actual show.... It was just kind of boring? Or well, the initial premise was interesting, but for reasons that boggle the mind, that is put on the backburner in favor of boring evil rich family problems. It takes like six episodes for the show remember 'oh yeah, you guys tuned in for a fantasy drama, right?' and that is pretty good, but you do unfortunately have to watch through all the other boring things you couldn't possibly care about. I liked the leads enough that Love in the Air will stay on my PTW, but I'm not sure if I'll watch whatever else there is for this (I think it's like one special?).

18. Brave Citizen
Korean Movie - 2023
This isn't this movie's fault but I think I'm just bored with bullying stories. I don't really watch them and think 'wow look at this person standing up for what's right', I think 'what is wrong with everyone that they're all so spineless?' All of these seem to be set in a world where cops aren't interested in doing their jobs at all (not that hard to believe, admittedly) and you can beat the shit out of anyone, anywhere, without a single person even bothering to look in the direction of what's going on (extremely hard to believe). Anyway general complaint aside, this was just okay.

19. U-Prince: T-Rex
Thai Drama - 2016, 4 episodes
I kind of always wish I were watching Senior Secret Love: Puppy Honey but...man did this really make I was watching that instead. I thought I would like this way more just going off of how this is on paper (Cold FL/Warm ML, Eccentric/Nice ML, FL gets out of a bad relationship, Cherreen, Kang, and Gun were here) but this takes so long to get off of the ground, which feels like a crazy thing to say about something that is four hours long. The lead couple is very cute (the theme park date in dinosaur costumes is definitely one of the cutest things I've seen in recent memory) but like, you definitely wait to see them. The comically evil boyfriend was definitely that, but not in a way that was worth watching. And speaking of the boyfriend, what is the point of churches and God if a guy can't get literally struck by lightning for using prayer in a church as a way to get back with the girlfriend he cheated on?

20. Please Tell Me So
Korean Special - 2021, 1 episode
This is so short as to be nothing (it is cute enough though) but it does get an extra point for being one of those shows where the mini-reveals are spoiled by my having BL brain.
-
21. A Better Tomorrow
Hong Kong Movie - 1986
Saw this at the movie theater
because nothing else even remotely seeing was worth playing during the first week of March! So sorry to say this but I think the main positive thought I had the whole time was that Chow Yun Fat was really hot and the only way I was entertained a lot of the time was hoping just once that Mark and Ho would kiss (on screen instead of just every time they weren't in a scene). This is my first time seeing a John Woo movie and also this isn't a movie I would normally watch anyway so like...I can see its place as like a foundational, everyone is referencing this work, and I do think certain pieces are 'hmm'-worthy (in a good way, like the lead up to the Taiwan shootout) but I wouldn't watch it again. I would maybe watch another one to see if this is just a case of like, Seinfeld is Unfunny. -
22. Real or Reel
Korean TV Show - 2024, 6 episodes
Why are these episodes so longokay well the complaint that I have about every variety show out of the way, this was fine. I only watched half of the episodes since I just picked ones that had guests I was already familiar with. Also, I think every show should make the panelists wear the same silly outfit. -
23. ThamePo Heart That Skips a Beat
Thai Drama - 2024, 13 episodes
Props to me for making the right call to skip the WilliamEst scenes in Me and Thee, this show is definitely the correct introduction to these two. I'm hoping You Maniac is a little better though, this is one of those "nothing really happens" dramas that I can't imagine how people feel much of anything while watching. Other positives before I complain: Drake!
ManowSammy!IngkyLego! This actually being a pretty good advertisement for LYKN, a group I previously had no interest in and now have at least some interest in! Oh also maybe the most positive, Nut was actually really good in this? It sucks that he had so little to do in My Magic Prophecy, Jun was a really fun character. In general all the non-William LYKN boys do okay. This is not to say that William did bad but he is the lead, there's different expectations. I actually could have done with a bit more of the individual MARS members' plots. The complaints section is actually pretty short in terms of actual things but it's the two things the show spends the most time on, the leads' relationship and idol life. This is weird because the chemistry between the two is good, but the glacial pace (and then like...opposite of glacial pace, literally what) of their relationship really did them no favors. I like a slow burn but this seemed like they tried to have their cake and eat it too rather than fully commit to it. As far as idol life...the show only seemed kind of like partially interested in this? I don't know if it's just like not that interesting as is, but some of what was presented didn't really seem like it would happen in life, and the rest was like 'enough about that, aren't you interested in the same idol dating plot you've seen a billion times?' and like...no, actually, I'm well up on those. I think idols should be allowed to date and I think that whoever they date should be allowed to beat fans with a tire iron if needed, so can we please explore any other facets of idol life, please?

24. Sipjangsaeng
Korean Movie - 2021
This score might be a bit inflated because I really feel like there's something here, but it's trapped under....not sure what. I did like the leads and the premise (as I am understanding it) and some of the shots/transitions are something I'll be thinking about for awhile.
-
25. Sugar Dog Life
Japanese Drama - 2024, 9 episodes
A couple of familiar faces in this one (recognized the guy from Life: Love on the Line, did not completely recognize the guy from Silhouette of Your Voice but that probably says more about Silhouette of Your Voice than this guy)! Anyway this was just okay. I think the main thing that stood out for me is that it's very pretty.
-
26. Star With a Secret
Korean Drama - 2020, 5 episodes
I didn't get much out of this other than fulfilling part of a watch challenge. Nice to see Sung Hoon again but that's about it, this isn't bad but it's not even good for a web drama either.

27. 0.0MHz
Korean Movie - 2019
This kind of feels like Gonjiam's clumsier younger sibling. Some of the jump scares did land, (this is not a big accomplishment on account of me being a big scaredy cat) and I was at least interested in the characters enough that I didn't turn it off, but I definitely won't be thinking about this or feel eerie about anything like I would with a better, creepier movie. Or no, I will be thinking specifically about the ending which is like...why would the ghost do that, are they just playing the long game or what? I kind of wish a ghost would possess me but inexplicably decide to just keep my life going as it was pre-possession, including getting my book published and dating a member of Apink.

28. Me and Thee
Thai Drama - 2025, 10 episodes
Full disclosure but while watching, episodes 6-10 weren't available so I decided to just watch the official reaction videos for highlights and then watch episode 10. I don't think my rating would have been higher though.
Anyway! I thought this would be fun, and Pond as Thee is fun. A Rich Guy who suffers from Watched Too Many Dramas Disease is very funny. However, the thing about having a character like this is that you need a good opposite. Peach, sadly, is boring. He's supposed to be Very Good and Normal, but since Thee never really does anything all that bad (minus the Aran thing which is so unlike the rest of his "overbearing favors" personality that it seems like he wanted Aran because that's the only way a writer could figure to get him into position to fall for Peach), and Peach is so normal that little about his life is interesting outside of Thee, it just seems like Peach is needlessly fussy and wants nothing to happen in this story.
The other characters don't really matter for the first five episodes, and they're barely in the reactions so I feel they really don't matter for last five episodes either. I didn't want this to be where I first saw the ThamePo guys, so I skipped all their scenes and won't comment. PerthSanta... The only thing I can say is that Perth has been miscast like this since the second season of Love By Chance. I remember thinking that he wasn’t great at portraying a Bad Boy character back then, and it gets worse as time goes on because these characters have gotten much worse since 2020. If you’re not good at playing them, it’s extremely hard to sell 'I am violently possessive of my partner and the show will actually scold you through the ML's sister if you think it's bad that we ended up together'. As a pair, this dynamic just doesn’t seem to suit them.
Not crazy about that as a last note so uh...the GMMT(hee) stuff at the end was... I chuckled a bit?
