Tokyo born Akihiko Matsumoto is a 2 time Academy Award winning, renowned music composer. Currently he holds the record for the 4th highest ranking of all movie soundtrack sales throughout Japan’s history.

Akihiko started his career as a music producer in 1987. Since then, he has proven to be as popular as he is prolific, contributing to over 1,500 songs, 13 films and 11 television drama series.

In a career that has moved from highpoint to highpoint, 1998 particularly stands out. Akihiko won Japan’s Academy Award for his participation in Asia’s box office smash, “Bayside Shakedown." Further cementing his stellar reputation as Japan’s most distinguished and successful composer, he was commissioned to work as music director for the series, “Resident Evil," PlayStation 2's most well known video game worldwide.
