Dazai Hisao
- Name: Dazai Hisao
- Native name: 太宰久雄
- Also Known as: だざい ひさお, 大宰久雄
- Nationality: Japanese
- Gender: Male
- Born: December 26, 1923
- Died: November 20, 1998
During middle school, due to the impact of military training where he was fired at close range by a machine gun, his hearing deteriorated slightly, and since then, his voice became about one octave higher than others. Although this became a complex for him, it later contributed to his career as an actor.
Originally not aspiring to be an actor, after attending Shoowa Daiichi Commercial School and dropping out of the Faculty of Commerce at Nihon University, he also helped out at his family's nori wholesaler. He intended to take over the family business, but the shop burned down in the Tokyo air raids. In 1946, shortly after the war, he joined NHK Tokyo Broadcasting Troupe as a second-year member seeking a means of livelihood. He excelled as a radio voice actor, making good use of his unique high voice.
To advance his career as an actor, he became freelance in 1955. He also belonged to the Tokyo Talent Club and had a period as an exclusive talent for TBS.
He lost his first wife, actress Ono Shunko (小野舜子), to cancer in 1970 and remarried Masako (雅子) in 1977.
From around 1987, he struggled with diabetes due to excessive drinking caused by work-related stress. In July 1996, during a hospital visit for a vision impairment examination caused by diabetes, cancer was discovered. He passed away at Tokyo University Hospital Annex due to stomach cancer. He was 74 years old.
