He joined IT Entertainment (아이티 엔터테인멘트; formerly known as Pure Entertainment) as a trainee and, in December 2012, he participated in a special project with other artists from the company. They released the single "Standing Together" to help the bereaved families of the Tohoku tsunami.
He made his debut in April 2013 as PURE's lead vocalist with their first EP, "Pure - The Debut Album". However, by November of that year, he and 2 other members began having arguments with the company. The full explanation was never given by either them or Pure Entertainment, but 5 days later, all three were expelled from the group, and the agency conducted auditions to replace them.
In September 2014, he made his debut as a solo artist with the digital single "Girl Like Coffee" and using the stage name JENT. He then ventured into acting, making his debut in September 2015 with a role in the web drama "Immutable Law of First Love". In August 2020, he made a comeback as a singer and announced he was now using his birth name.
