Lee Chia is a Taiwanese director from Fujian. He graduated from Xiamen University with a degree in History and worked as a reporter, editor and editorial writer for the Xiamen Star Daily newspaper after the victory in the war. In 1955, he was loaned out by CFF to a private production company to make films in Taiwanese, including "Mending the Net", "The Leprosy Girl", and "Ghost Hunters"'. He later directed Mandarin films for CFF and other public production companies, winning the Best Director Award at the 5th Golden Horse Awards for "My Daughter Ruo Lan" and the Best Director Award at the 20th Asian Film Festival for "The Great Skyscraper".

From 1971 to 1975, he worked for China Television Corporation on serials such as "The Seven Swordsmen of the West Loop", "Jia Qingjun and Wang Delu", and "The Bodyguard", etc. Since 1979, he has mainly been a drama director for television dramas.
