Francisco Buencamino belonged to a family of musicians. Buencamino taught at the Ateneo de Manila in the early 1900s. He also taught at the Centro Escolar de Señoritas and headed its Music Department for 30 years. He founded the Buencamino Music Academy in 1930. He also became a musical director for sarswela productions, and composer of music for films produced by Sampaguita Pictures, LVN, and Excelsior.

In 1952, he was given a posthumous Outstanding Composer Award by the Manila Music Lovers Society.
