Ian Chen is a Taiwanese Mandopop singer, composer, lyricist, and actor from Nantou, Taiwan. He graduated from the Performing Arts Department of Taipei Huagang Arts School (臺北市私立華岡藝術學校). Initially, he moved to Taipei for high school and participated in the fifth season of the talent competition One Million Star (超級星光大道). He withdrew from the competition, ranking in the top 16, due to academic conflicts and his commitment to representing his school at an overseas music festival.

During his sophomore year at university, Chen auditioned for Super Idol (超級偶像) at Chinese Culture University (中國文化大學). He had trained in dance from high school and was later introduced to Eagle Music founder Li Ya Ming (李亞明), leading him to sign as a trainee. He took a break from university to focus on his music career.

Chen enlisted for military service in 2013 and officially debuted on March 28, 2014, with Andrew Tan (陳勢安), Dino Lee (李玉璽), and Bii (畢書盡) in the compilation album Unstoppable 2 (勢在必行2). He was signed with Forward Music (福茂唱片) until 2020. After facing public criticism for an incident involving a shared scooter, he left Eagle Music. In 2022, he signed with WANMEI (完美夥伴) and rebranded under the stage name NIKA.
