Choi Young Jae is a South Korean former soldier and bodyguard and current TV personality and lecturer. He graduated from Yongin University with a bachelor's degree in Public Security. He entered the military in 2005 and reached the rank of Army Special Warfare Command Captain by the time he was discharged in 2014. During his time in the military he was part of several special training operations and he worked as a bodyguard during President Moon Jae In's presidential election campaign. He gained notoriety when a photo of him was taken and published in domestic and foreign media, he became known in social media as the "handsome bodyguard". After being discharged, he continued working as a private bodyguard and as a hairdresser and entrepreneur before deciding to enter the entertainment industry. In 2022, he was appointed as a visiting professor in the Department of Military Studies at Gyeongbuk Junior College.
