Kwon Ki Bum, known professionally as Bumkey, is a South Korean hip-hop singer-songwriter. He was born in Seoul but he moved to Los Angeles, USA in 1999 with his family. In 2004, he decided to return to South Korea, alone, to pursue a career in music. He made his debut in Dynamic Duo's song "Love Is" as a featured artist and based his music on a mixture of hip-hop, electronic and rock. He began featuring in songs of prominent artists like Epik High and Brown Eyes but his career was halted when he had surgery to remove vocal chord nodules and a sore throat that left him unable to speak for almost 2 years. In 2010, he returned as a member of the hip-hop duo 2winS with TopBob (formerly of TBNY) and they promoted with another hip-hop duo, Supreme Team, composed of E-Sens and Simon Dominic. He signed with Brand New Music and made his solo debut in 2013 with the song "Bad Girl" and in 2014 he was introduced as the leader of the newly formed group, TROY. Later that year, he married DJ Kang Da Hye (currently known as HOLLYHOOD). However, his career was derailed a second time when he was arrested in late 2014 for a drug-related charge. In early 2015, he was acquitted, but the prosecution remained adamant of the charges and filed several appeals until he was surprisingly convicted in early 2016. The sentence of 8 months in prison and 2 years probation was confirmed on April 2016 despite not having enough evidence to convict and not detecting any drugs in his blood at the time he was tested. He returned in late 2017 but has mainly focused on singing OSTs, appearing as a featured artist and creating his own label alongside his wife (while remaining a part of Brand New Music) instead of appearing on TV.
