Mun Jung Hyuk, known professionally by his English name Eric Mun, is a South Korean singer, actor, model, and member of SHINHWA (신화). He was born in South Korea, but his family moved to Los Angeles when he was a child. He graduated from Sunny Hills High School and later obtained a bachelor's degree in Theater and Film and a master's degree in Performing Arts, both from Dongguk University. He was a dual citizen of the US and South Korea, but he renounced his American citizenship in 2003.

He returned to South Korea in 1996 and joined SM Entertainment (SM엔터테인먼트) as a trainee, spending 2 years at the company.

He made his debut in March 1998 as the group's leader and main rapper with their first album, "Resolver". However, the album was not well received by the music critics and the public, and SM began thinking about disbanding or restructuring the group.

He began his acting career in 2004 with a role in the MBC series "Breathless". He had his first major role the following year in the drama "Super Rookie", which was even bought by Fuji Television and broadcast in Japan. However, in 2006, he was injured while shooting a scene for the drama "Wolf". A stunt driver misunderstood the director's instructions and did not slow down when approaching him and co-star Han Ji Min at 40 km/h. Both suffered minor injuries, but MBC decided to cancel the drama after 4 episodes.

In 2008, SHINHWA went on hiatus as members began enlisting. He began serving in the military on October 9, 2008, and was discharged on October 30, 2010.

After being released, he founded his own label, Shinhwa Company (신화컴퍼니), to manage the group's activities. They officially made a comeback after a 4-year break and now reunite to release new material every now and then. Individually, he ended his contract with TOP Media in 2022 and is now an independent artist.

He and actress Na Hye Mi tied the knot in 2017 and welcomed their first son in March 2023. Their second son was born on March 19, 2025.
