Lee Ji Sun is a South Korean professor and book author. She graduated from Changdeok Girls' High School and later obtained a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Ewha Womans University, master's degrees in Rehabilitation Counseling from Boston University and in Social Welfare from Columbia University, and a PhD in Social Welfare from the University of California, Los Angeles. In 2000, a drunk driver caused a 7-car accident when she was on her way back home with her older brother. He was not severely injured but she suffered 3rd degree burns in 55% of her body. After the accident, she underwent 40 major surgeries in South Korea, Japan and the United States and wrote a best-seller book titled "I Love You, Ji Sun" documenting the painful treatment and recovery of her injuries. She recovered and went back to graduate school in the US to obtain her two master's degrees and her PhD, before returning to South Korea to help patients who have suffered from severe burns. From 2017 until 2022, she was appointed a professor in the Faculty of Counseling Psychology and Social Welfare at Handong Global University. She is currently a professor in the Social Welfare Department at Ewha Womans University, hosts a radio show and has written 4 more books, including the sequel to "I Love You, Ji Sun".
