Yeh Hung Wei was born in 1963 in the village of Fengyuan in Central Taiwan. He has been a film fan since his early youth; the memory of this formed the basis for his debut film "Never-ending Memory" (1988). In 1968 he left with his family for Taipei, where in 1980 he started on a course in Film and Drama at the Chinese Culture University. After military service, he worked as scriptwriter for television. His second feature, "Curses of the Knife" (1989), was awarded a Golden Horse for the best film and best directing as the Taiwan Film Festival. Edit Biography
