He made his debut in October 2010 as a member of TOUCH with their first single, "Me". However, the group was not successful in their debut, and the agency decided to make changes to the lineup, so less than a year after debuting, he parted ways with YYJ Entertainment (YYJ엔터테인먼트) and left TOUCH as a result.
After switching companies, he re-debuted in June 2013 as BOYS REPUBLIC's lead vocalist with their first single, "Party Rock". This time around, the group had a successful debut, charting #1 in several Asian countries and even earning the endorsement of Jeju Air. They were co-managed by Universal Music Group (유니버설 뮤직) and Happy Tribe Entertainment (해피트라이브엔터테인먼트).
The following year, the group faced some controversy when the MV of the song "Get Down" included sexy and provocative scenes and blood-splatting battle scenes, which were a homage to the movie "Mad Max". The Korean censorship rated the video 19+, so it could not be aired on public TV. The group had to film a second version of the song in order to be able to promote it in all music shows without being banned.
In September 2018, the agency announced that it had reached an agreement with all the members, and after a concert on September 30, they went on an indefinite hiatus, a move that surprised many fans as they had enjoyed some success in the past five years.
While the group has never announced an official disbandment, he enlisted for his mandatory military service on January 21, 2019, and was discharged on August 23, 2020.
He tried a comeback as a contestant in "Tomorrow's National Singer" but was eliminated in the earlier rounds.
