Lin Xi Yue is a Chinese film and theatre actor, born into a theatre family in Beijing. His father is the director of Peijing People's Art Theatre and his mother, He Bing Zhu, is a professor at the directing department of Central Academy of Drama. His elder sister, Lin Cong, is a director, screenwriter and actress. Lin would have embarked on a directing career but due to no enrolment during the year he took his examination, he applied for acting at the Central Academy of Drama instead.

In 1995, Lin officially entered showbiz with his participation in the comedy "Qi Bu Ting Che". Since then, he has engaged in film, TV drama and theatre performances. He has also worked as a TV presenter and show host.

At the end of 2015, Lin made his directing debut with the drama "Frog". In 2016, he and his father co-directed the drama "Ge Duo Yi Sheng Huo Zhi Liu Ge Ren Xun Zhao Di Shi Ba Zhi Luo Tuo" which ended successfully at the Wuzhen Theatre Festival.
