Suh Jung Hee is a South Korean former model turned writer and broadcaster. She attended Dongmyeong Girls’ High School but dropped out. She had an unfortunate childhood as her father died when she was very young and her mother had to work several part-time jobs to make enough money for them, so she was raised by her grandmother. In high school, she was scouted by a modeling agency and she decided to begin her career as a model. She was an exclusive model for Haitai Confectionery in the 1980s and for Goldstar between 1986 and 1989. During the recording of a commercial, she met comedian Seo Se Won and after a brief dating period, they got married in 1982 when he was 26 and she was 20 years old. She semi-retired from the modeling industry after marriage and in 2014 shocking allegations came to light when she filed for divorce after presenting evidence of physical and mental abuse during her marriage. In court, she testified to being raped by the comedian when she was 19 and forced to marry him and then, living in constant fear due to the domestic violence she suffered during their marriage, the couple finally divorced in 2015. She began getting involved in politics and religion and expressed some radical ideas against the LGBTQI+ and the Muslim communities which damaged her image for several years. She started writing books in 2020 and later opened a Youtube channel and, in 2022, was diagnosed with breast cancer but underwent treatment and appears to have beaten the disease.
