Kim Duk Eun, known professionally as Jadu, is a South Korean singer and former member of the mixed duo THE JADU. She graduated from Seonjeong High School and was later enrolled in the Practical Music program at Dongduk Women's University but dropped out. She made her debut in 2001 as the vocalist of THE JADU, a rock-indie duo composed of her and Kang Doo, with their 1st album, "Version 0001". Immediately after debuting, the duo began getting recognition for their unique melodies and choreography matching their trendy lyrics. That year, they won the Seoul Music Award for Best Newcomer and, the next year, the Mnet Asian Music Award for Best Coed Group. In 2006, Kang left the group and was replaced by Maru. The duo continued to promote for 2 more years before their contracts with J Entertainment expired and both decided to go their separate ways. She began promoting as a soloist using the stage name Jadu but the company decided to sue her for the copyrights of the name and she began a complicated legal battle and changed her stage name to Do.U to avoid any further issues. She just recently settled with the company and is back to using Jadu as her stage name. In 2022, she formed a jazz group with pianist Oh Hwa Pyeong and they mostly appear in Christian channels. She married her church pastor in 2013 and the couple have no children of their own, however, after her brother and her sister-in-law passed away in an accident in 2020, she decided to raise her brother's 4 kids.
