After graduating from Keio University Law School, Henmi joined Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. and was assigned to the Tokyo Public Relations Department. Eventually, he became responsible for dramas and, in the role of a client producer representing the sponsor, participated in the production of television programs.
In 1980, after serving as the head of the advertising department, Henmi became independent from Matsushita Electric and established the production company Office Henmi.
On December 9, 1995, he passed away at the age of 62 due to a heart attack.
