She entered the entertainment industry at the age of 16 using the stage name Fujita Keiko (藤田佳子) and made her debut as an actress in "Juudai no Himitsu". In 1954, she joined Daiei Film. In the 1960s, she was active at Toei Studios.
She made her debut as a lyricist with Ogawa Chieko's "Sayonara ga Kowai no" in 1973. Following the success, she transitioned from being an actress to a lyricist.
She was initially married to actor Yamada Shinji, but they later divorced. Her current husband is the composer Suzuki Jun.
