Cha Myeong Seok is a South Korean retired baseball player, coach, broadcaster and general manager. He graduated from Seongnam High School and later obtained a degree from Konkuk University. After college, he was drafted by the LG Twins in 1992 where he spent his entire playing career as a pitcher. He began his career as a starting pitcher but despite his athleticism, he struggled and moved to the bullpen. He became one of the first set-up relief pitchers in South Korean baseball as he specialized in handling the 7th or 8th inning before the team's closer came in to end the game. In 2001, he suffered a severe injury, only playing in 9 games that year. At the end of the season, he decided to retire and moved on to coaching and TV. He has had brief stints as a baseball analyst for MBC Sports from 2002 to 2003, in 2014, and from 2017 to 2018. In 2004, he joined the coaching staff of the LG Twins, first as bullpen coach, then pitching coach and finally head coach in 2015. He became the head coach of KT Wiz in 2016 but returned to LG Twins as the team's general manager in 2019 until today.
