Saotome Michiko

She graduated from Chiyoda Jogakuen High School. Initially, she worked as an actress. In April 1954, she joined the Bunkaza theater company, and later married Miyazawa Toshikazu. In August 1963, she and Miyazawa founded the theater company Gunzo-za and engaged in theatrical activities.
From 1970 onwards, Saotome spent about six years in Moscow, where she learned Russian. Upon returning to Japan, she worked as a translator of Russian literature at Gunzo-sha.
