Watanabe Koji is a writer and digital media critic from Fukuoka, Fukuoka, Japan.

He is the owner of K-CAFE, a restaurant located in Nakano Broadway, and serves as the president of GTV, a company specializing in the production of games and video software. Additionally, he works as a part-time lecturer at Waseda University Graduate School.

Watanabe graduated from the First Literature Department of Waseda University. During his time at university, he wandered abroad, particularly in Southeast Asia, living as a hippie. Upon returning to Japan, he gained experience as a member of a theater company, a musician, and a copywriter.

As a fledgling writer, he wrote proposal documents for the film company Toho. However, it was his involvement in structuring the movie "GAME KING: Takahashi Meijin vs. Mori Meijin - Clash! Decisive Battle," centered around the famous Nintendo game champion Takahashi Meijin, in 1986, that led him into the computer game industry.

In 1988, during the early days of home video game consoles, Watanabe launched a monthly video game information magazine called "GTV (Game Tech Video)" utilizing videos.

He began his career as a writer in earnest with the serialization of the novel "1999-nen no Game Kids" in "Weekly Famitsu" (Enterbrain).

Currently, he is not only active in writing but also works as the president of GTV, engaging in creative activities across all digital media. Additionally, he has recently collaborated with Niwango to write and develop serialized electronic novels where readers receive the continuation of the story by replying to emails. He also served as the manager of KOBO CAFE at Kodansha BOX.
