Originally from Sayama, Saitama, Japan, Sekiguchi graduated from New York University's Stern School of Business. During his university years, he studied business management, film production, promotion, and broadcasting at the business school. He also specialized in management, marketing, M&A, and authored numerous papers.
From April 1994 to December 2015, Sekiguchi worked as a film and television producer in the Drama Production Department of Fuji Television.
In August 2012, he married fashion model and actress Kawahara Ayako.
Sekiguchi left Fuji Television in December 2015.
Since January 2016, he has been serving as the Chief Producer at Warner Bros. Japan.
From January 2023, he has been the Head of Development and Production at Warner Bros. Japan.
