In 1993, he co-founded the visual label WATER&EYES with filmmaker Iwai Shunji. In 1994, he moved to Robot Communications with him.
In 1998, he produced "Futari no Alice," (ふたりのアリス) for which he also wrote the screenplay. However, due to its resemblance to a real-life incident where a junior high school girl killed her parents, the broadcast was canceled, marking the first time in his career that a production was shelved. In 1999, he made his directorial debut.
Since 2001, he has been working as a director and producer at snap, where he has directed numerous commercials for Disney and Studio Ghibli.
In 2007, he established the production company WATER&SKY, where he handles all aspects of video production from planning to editing.
