Poon Ka Tak is a Hongkongese producer and director. He is a graduate of Hanhua Middle School. After graduating from high school in 1967, he joined the banking industry because he believed that banking jobs were stable and paid salaries on time, so he spent more than seven years working hard.

In 1974, he was admitted to the TVB Artist Training Course (the fourth phase). After graduating in 1975, he was offered the opportunity to play small roles, such as eunuchs, servants, guards, guests, government officials, etc., in dramas. At that time, he signed a three-year basic artist contract with the TV station. However, he only worked as an artist for three months before switching to behind-the-scenes work and he worked as an assistant director.

In 1976, Poon officially changed his job as a director and later a producer. In 1986, he was promoted to producer.

In 2018, he chose to leave TVB, where he had worked for 44 years but then chose to return there again at the end of September 2020 and signed a one-year production contract with them.

Poon Ka Tak is now a free agent, taking on TV dramas, film productions, stage plays, etc.
