He joined Fuji Television in 1962. Since joining the company, he has been actively involved in programming and production. During his time as a production manager, he faced challenges, with some of the dramas he worked on not performing well and even facing cancellations. Despite the setbacks, he made efforts to redeem himself, particularly in variety shows. In 1978, he appeared as an extra in "The White Tower," and he made significant contributions to broadcasting scoop footage during the 1985 Japan Airlines crash.

He progressed through various roles, starting as the head of the Programming Department in the Programming Division. In July 1988, he became the Head of the Programming Division, then in June 1991, he was appointed as a director. By June 1995, he became an executive director in charge of programming. His career advanced further in June 1999 when he was promoted to Senior Managing Director and Head of the Business Promotion Department, overseeing program deliberations.

In February 2000, he concurrently served as the inaugural president of Japan Movie Satellite Broadcasting, a company established with investments from Fuji Television and others. By June 2001, he assumed the role of president at Fuji Television. During his tenure as president, there were incidents such as the Livedoor scandal and the data fabrication issue with Kansai Television's production of "Hakken! Aru Aru Daijiten 2". He stepped down to an advisory role in June 2007.

From September 2009, he served as a board member at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies.
