He graduated from the Faculty of Law at Kinki University in 1987. He started his career as an assistant director at Eizo Kyoto and Kyoto Film before making his directorial debut in 2002 with the fifth episode, "Lost Article," of "Ban'ya no Issho.
Following the dissolution of Eizo Kyoto, he established the Kyoto Gumi Co., Ltd. and assumed the position of representative director.
