Sakai Kyo, a Japanese composer from Fukui, Japan, gained recognition primarily for his association with the Takarazuka Revue, where he held an honorary board position. Despite his early interest in music, he faced adversity when his family home was destroyed in a fire. To support his family, he worked for the Kyoto City Tramway and later joined the Echizen Electric Railway. During this time, he also pursued violin lessons at night.

Recommended by his violin instructor, Sakai joined the orchestra of the Takarazuka Revue, established by Hankyu Railway in Kohama, Kawabe, Hyogo, Japan. Under the mentorship of Emanuel Metter, he honed his skills in performance and conducting, eventually becoming the Revue's exclusive composer. He contributed significantly to the troupe by creating scores and arrangements for their productions. In 1946, he was appointed as a board member of the Revue.

In addition to his work in theater, Sakai composed numerous city anthems and school songs in Hyogo prefecture following World War II. He passed away in 1982 at the age of 84.
