Amano Shinji, originally known as Matsumoto Tomotaka (松本友孝), is a Japanese actor affiliated with Kindai Kikaku Center.

Born in Senju Nakamachi, Adachi-ku, Tokyo, Japan, he enrolled in Keio University's Faculty of Literature in 1952 but left in his second year after being scouted by Shinkokugeki (New National Theatre). He adopted the stage name Amano Shinji and performed with the troupe until 1961.

In 1965, he married Waka Suzuko.
