Born in Harbin, then part of Manchukuo, she repatriated to Japan as a child. She completed her education at Atago Junior High School in Minato, Tokyo, and later trained at the Shochiku Music and Dance School. In April 1955, she began her career with the Shochiku Revue (SKD) as part of its 8th generation.
After leaving the revue, she continued to work actively in theater, film, and television dramas.
In 1964, she married a civilian man and had one son.
