Lai Pak Hoi

In 1922, Lai co-founded the Minxin Film Company (民新影片公司), the first Chinese-owned film company in Hong Kong. After the British colonial government rejected their plans to establish a studio in Hong Kong, the company relocated to Guangzhou in 1924. He later founded the Zhonghua Manufacturing Sound and Silent Film Company.
Lai retired from the film industry in 1935 and passed away in Guangzhou on December 26, 1955.
