She began competing for the South Korean national team in 2018 at the Asian Games in Jakarta. She then made her Olympic debut in Tokyo 2021 (delayed one year because of the COVID-19 pandemic) where she was eliminated in the round of 16.
In 2024, she attended the Summer Olympics in Paris where she became the first ever South Korean woman to obtain a medal in boxing as she managed to earn a bronze medal in the women's 54 kg category.
