Alex Hafner was born in Vienna, Austria, to an Italian father, an engineer, and a Spanish mother, an economist. Throughout his childhood, his family relocated frequently, living in Madrid, Vienna, and Singapore before eventually settling in California, where he attended the Hawthorne School.
