He is noted for his roles as Hanaoka Ichiro in the film Warriors of the Rainbow: Seediq Bale 賽德克•巴萊 (2011), which earned him a Supporting Actor Award at the 46th Golden Bell Awards.

On March 2016, he officially changed his name to Hsu I Fan.
