Tanaka Teruzo, born Tanaka Teruo (田中輝夫) in Wada, Mitoyo, Kagawa, Japan, was a Japanese stage designer. was a Japanese stage designer. He graduated from Kagawa Prefectural Mitoyo Middle School (香川県立三豊中学校) and, in 1934, Kyoto College of Technology (京都高等工芸学校).

He joined Hankyu Railway (阪急電鉄) in April 1934, working in the Takarazuka Theater Department (宝塚劇場課), where he was responsible for stage backgrounds and art design, studying under Tanaka Ryo (田中良) and Arashima Tsurukichi (荒島鶴吉). After being drafted into military service in July 1941, he was discharged in October 1945 and reinstated at Hankyu Railway.

In 1950, he transferred to the Public Relations Department at the railway's headquarters. By 1951, he began designing stage art for various theater troupes in Osaka. He became a lecturer at Naniwa Junior College (浪速短期大学) in 1962 and a permanent director and Kansai branch head of the Japan Stage and Television Designers Association (日本舞台テレビ美術家協会) in 1966.

Tanaka joined Osaka University of Arts (大阪芸術大学) in 1971 as a lecturer in the Broadcasting Department and became a full-time professor in the Stage Arts Department in 1975. During his career, he advised Tsumura Kogei Co., Ltd. (株式会社つむら工芸) and represented Japan in various cultural delegations to China, including the Sino-Japanese Friendship New Theater Delegation (訪中友好新劇代表), the Japan-China Friendship Drama Society Delegation (日中友好話劇人社訪中団), the Kunqu Opera Viewing Delegation (崑劇観劇訪中団), and the Yunnan Province Theater Viewing Delegation (雲南省観劇訪中団).

His younger brother, Tanaka Minoru (田中岑), was a Western-style painter.
