Primary, born Choi Dong Hun (최동훈) in Seoul, South Korea, is a South Korean composer and CEO of Factory Company. He graduated from Kyung Hee University, College of Art & Design (경희대학교 예술디자인대학) with a Bachelor’s in Postmodern Music. He debuted on September 26, 2006, with the full-length album Primary Skool "Step Under The Metro" (프라이머리 스쿨 "스텝 언더 더 메트로").

In 2013, Primary faced allegations of plagiarism following the release of the song I Got C (아이 갓 C) at the Infinite Challenge Freedom Road Song Festival (자유로 가요제). Critics noted similarities between I Got C and Caro Emerald's Liquid Lunch, particularly in the melody, lyrics, and horn sample in the chorus. Caro Emerald's team claimed the two songs shared significant elements, including parts of the breakdown section and identical chords from Emerald's song Paris. Additionally, I’m Back was compared to Nuno Bettencourt’s Crave, leading to further scrutiny. In response, Primary added Bettencourt's name to the copyright registration for I’m Back. Allegations of plagiarism were also raised about other songs, including Mystery by Park Ji Yoon and Happy Ending.

Following these controversies, Primary’s agency denied the plagiarism claims, asserting that any similarities were unintentional. The Infinite Challenge festival album was halted, and the accusations led to significant damage to Primary's reputation. While Caro Emerald did not pursue legal action, they publicly labeled the case as plagiarism and issued a warning against future instances. Primary later reached a co-authorship agreement with Emerald's team.

In 2016, Primary formed a project group called Hobby with Choiza (최자). After leaving his contract with Amoeba Culture (아메바 컬쳐) in 2020, he established Factory Company, where he currently serves as CEO.

He has been married to actress Nam Bo Ra (남보라) since October 9, 2019.
