Jin Zi is a Chinese time-travel fiction writer born in Sichuan, China. She was raised in the Daliang Mountains and later grew up in Chongqing. She graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute (四川美术学院). Before becoming a full-time writer, she worked as a teacher, editor, and designer.
