She made her debut in March 2016 (using the stage name Semmi) as MATILDA's lead vocalist with their first digital single, "Macarena". In early 2017, all members entered the singing survival show "The Unit" but were eliminated in the earlier rounds. Their agency, Box Media (박스미디어), began delaying their comeback after the show ended and spent nearly 2 years on hiatus before releasing their fourth and final single in November 2018.
She had minor roles in several dramas while the group was on break. All members went on to do other activities, and the group officially disbanded in September 2019 after their contracts had expired.
She auditioned for "Miss Trot Season 2" under her real name but was quickly eliminated. She has not appeared much on TV since then, and she is currently not represented by any agency.
