Julio Perillan Gandarias is an American actor of Spanish descent, born and raised in Bethesda, Maryland, United States. He holds dual citizenship in the United States and Spain. Perillan earned a degree in physics from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Following the death of his father in 1996, he moved to Los Angeles to study film and acting. He began his acting career in theater in 1998 and made his film debut in the independent feature Eden's Curve (2003). He later relocated to Spain to care for his paternal grandparents and pursue opportunities in the Spanish film industry. His first role there was as the lead in the 2004 film Fragile.
