Maki Makilan is a filmmaker from Negros Occidental, currently based in Quezon, Philippines. She earned her degree from the University of the Philippines Film Institute and also trained at the Mowelfund Film Institute. Her undergraduate thesis mientras tanto received support from the Film Development Council of the Philippines' Student Film Assistance Program (Cycle 1) and won the Special Jury Prize, Best Editing, and Best Sound Design at Lutas X: Negros Oriental Film Festival. She works as a cinematographer for independent films and develops her own projects as a writer-director.
