Dai Wei is a Chinese director and screenwriter from Harbin, China. She studied journalism at the Communication University of China (中國傳媒大學) and later studied directing at the Beijing Film Academy (北京電影學院). She began directing in 1997 and previously served as the artistic director of the overseas editorial department at CCTV International Channel. Her first feature film, the Tibetan-themed musical "Ganglamedo" (岡拉梅朵), was released nationwide in March 2008.
