"Bird" Thongchai McIntyre is a celebrated Thai singer and actor named National Artist in performing arts by the Office of the National Culture Commision of Thailand in 2023. He has Thai, Mon and Scottish heritage.

Bird got his start in the music industry as a contestant in a national singing competition run by Siam Motors Group. Afterwards, he signed with GMM Grammy (จีเอ็มเอ็ม แกรมมี่) in 1986 until 2023 when he moved to GMM Music (จีเอ็มเอ็ม มิวสิค) after company restructuring. In the mid-nineties, he became the first Thai artist to receive an International MTV Award for his performance in "Sunset at Chaophraya" (คู่กรรม). An award-winning documentary of his life "Crossing Borders" can be seen at St. John's University in New York. In 2010, Bird made his first international tour in Los Angeles and the 50th Anniversary of Lincoln Center in New York. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Guitar Mag Awards 2023.
