Before debuting, she was a trainee who almost debuted with 9muses‘ Kyungri, WJSN‘s Seola and Exy and Dalshabet‘s Woohee in a group called VIVA GIRLS, but the agency went bankrupt before they could debut.
She finally made her debut in May 2012 (using the stage name Lime) as the group's main rapper, main dancer and lead vocalist with their first EP, "Venus". The group was originally managed by Tricell Media (트라이셀 미디어; a joint venture between Pledis Entertainment and Fantagio).
However, in 2014, both companies decided to end their collaboration, and Tricell Media ceased operations. She remained part of Fantagio (판타지오), but the group faced a lineup change soon after, and despite some collaborations and comebacks, it never managed to find much success. In May 2019, the group officially disbanded after their contracts expired.
In July 2021, she began using the stage name Cha Ju Hwa and decided to become an actress. She is currently without representation and works as an independent artist.
