Kim Young Ok, known professionally as Kim Soo Mi, was a South Korean actress. She graduated from Sungeui Girls' High School and later obtained a bachelor's degree in Korean Language and Literature from Korea National Open University.

She made her debut in 1970 as part of the 3rd open recruitment for talent at MBC. She then became part of the cast of "Country Diaries". With the show running for 20 years, it made her one of the most popular Korean actresses of the 1980s.

She headed the publicity as part of the organizing committee of the 1999 Hanam International Environment Expo.

In 2003, she became the chairman of the Department of Theater and Film at Soongsil University's College of Social Sciences. That year, she also made a special appearance in "Oh! Happy Day" as a middle-aged lady that used a lot of profanity. This character helped revamp her image and rejuvenate her fading career. She then earned roles in several shows and was known as the "Queen of Ad-lib" for her funny improvisations.

In 2011, her role in the film "Late Blossom" got her the Best Supporting Actress Award at the Blue Dragon Film Awards.

She was a businesswoman with a line of cooking products and side dishes and appeared in many variety shows and in the shopping network.

In May 2024, she suspended activities as she battled with declining health and several hospitalizations. She briefly returned to TV in September, but, on October 25, 2024, she suffered a heart attack and passed away at the age of 75.
