Song Chong Gug
- Name: Song Chong Gug
- Native name: 송종국
- Also Known as: Song Jong Guk
- Nationality: South Korean
- Gender: Male
- Born: March 3, 1978
- Age: 48
While in university, he represented his country at the under-20 and under-23 levels for 13 games before being called up to the senior national team in 2000 for a game against North Macedonia. The following year, he made his professional debut after being selected by Busan IPark FC (formerly known as Busan I'Cons), where he won the Rookie of the Year Award.
Dutch coach Guus Hiddink was South Korea's coach at the time and immediately selected him as part of the squad for the 2002 FIFA World Cup, and he was the only South Korean team member to play in all matches, completing all possible minutes. After the tournament, his team deliberately delayed possible transfers to England, so he forced a move to Feyenoord in the Netherlands. He played for the Dutch team for 3 seasons before injuries made him return to South Korea to enroll with the Suwon Samsung Bluewings, spending 5 seasons with them and earning a selection to the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
He then had one-year stints in Al-Shabab in Saudi Arabia, Ulsan back in South Korea, and Tianjin Teda in China, before announcing his retirement in 2012. Since then, he has worked as a commentator and coaching advisor for a few teams in the South Korean second division.
