After joining JYP Entertainment (JYP엔터테인먼트), he was chosen to become part of the agency's new band. In 2014, they began promotions under the name 5LIVE and appeared in the fourth episode of Mnet's reality survival program "Who is Next: Win". They released the single "Lovely Girl" as an OST for the 2013 TV series "Bel Ami".
The band was well-liked, but the name began drawing comparisons with the American band MAROON 5, so JYP decided to add another member and re-named the group DAY6.
He made his debut in September 2015 as the band's lead guitarist, main vocalist and face of the group with their first EP, "The Day". They have enjoyed huge commercial success, particularly in university festivals and have a strong foreign fanbase.
However, in December 2021, he announced he would go on hiatus due to personal reasons. Almost immediately, JYP announced the termination of his contract, and he officially left DAY6 in January 2022.
He made his debut as a solo artist in April 2022 (using the stage name eaJ) with the single "Car Crash".
